Sometimes we only notice what we have when we don't have it, like the last time the sanitation department went on strike. Remember what that was like?
We all like to walk on clean sidewalks, have our shopping carried to the car and sugar already in our coffee but that is only half the story. The other half is what you give back to the people who gave to you. We all have a role to play in this world and that is to keep on giving and never stop.
To be able to give an old lady a hand off the bus, pick up a paper that someone dropped and to help a kid cross the street are only a few of the things that make the world a better place for everyone. It's not about "paying back' for the things we have received, it's about giving to others what you have gotten yourself.
By recognizing that we have been given so much goodness by other people we are able to not only give back, but give even more. Having gratitude to the people who give is the start of a cycle that will never end. When we think into all the things we have received and all the people we have come across in our lives there is only one way to success - recognition, appreciation and gratefulness.
