The Smiling Sales Person

"Pretend that every single person you meet has a sign around their neck that says, 'Make me feel important.' Not only will you succeed in sales, you will succeed in life."

- Mary Kay Ash

Working in a store can be tedious and seem unexciting, but what if you can make a difference in every person's life?

You can foster relationships and reach out to people you would otherwise not come across. From helping an elderly woman choose between two dresses, to serving a businessman, who forgot his smile, his coffee or even passing an item from the top shelf to the kid in the grocery store - each one a customer, each one an individual.

Yes, on the surface it might look like an exchange of goods, a simple act, but it's really an exchange of connection and strength, and even though you might never see each other again you can leave an impression forever.

Being on the other side of the counter gives you a unique opportunity to brighten someone's day just by serving them with a smile. Treat everyone as a unique individual because that is what they are. No two people are the same and you don't know when you'll have the opportunity to serve them with a smile again.

When the food they have brought has been eaten and the dress has been worn, and the haircut has grown out, will they remember your smile?
