To Perform is to Love

"It makes my heart sing when I sing for others."

How many times have we seen, heard, walked past and ignored street performers?
But more so, how many times have we stopped, listened, paid attention and sung with them?

When we think of a performer, we often think of someone performing before a cheering, enthusiastic audience where people are hanging on to every word and each note. A performer, we think, is someone famous, someone well-known.

What about those who are on the street corner, the mall or in the subway? They are performers too. They sing, dance and play to make someone else's day.

They touch lives or people who they might never see again, but if we just stop and listen we will see, not to their music but to their soul. We are able to reach out to them too. It's not just about the money or their time and passion; it's not even about their talent. It's the possibility for them to reach out and perform, while for us we can reach out to them and show them we care.

They have made the street their stage and the world their audience. So, next time you see a street performer will you just keep walking?

    1. Yup! We're all performers.
Question is how we respond to the performances we see throughout the day. Do we let people know that we're listening and connecting to their music and their soul?
